ROCHA REALISES AMBITION
Ricardo Rocha said that performing in England's top flight will be the fulfilment of a dream for him.
The 28-year-old has joined up from Benfica where he spent four and a half years at the Stadium of Light, winning the League title in season 2004-05. He checked in at Spurs Lodge this afternoon and, in his perfect English, reflected on swapping the Portuguese Liga for the Premiership stage.
"It is very important for me because I have for a long time dreamed of playing in the Premiership and playing for a big, big club like Tottenham is a dream come true," said the winner of six international caps for his country.
"It is too soon to know what really to expect, I will work very hard, but the most important thing is the team and the results of the team. It is most important to win whether with me in the side or another player.
"Tottenham is a fantastic club which is historic in England. They one of the best teams who always try to win by playing good football and has a great cup tradition," added Ricardo, who suspects his robust style of play will be well suited to the intensity of Premiership combat.
"I think so, I play hard but also fair and I just want to win all the balls and stop my opponents from scoring goals. I will just always do my best."
